How You Can Adapt From Technology Support Scams:
- Talk and get help from someone else about your situation, you should never go through this alone.
- If they are connected to your device, disconnect it from your network because they might try to affect other devices on your network.
- Install and run legitimate security anti-virus software to scan for any malware or virus they might have installed on your computer.
- Change your passwords.
- If they are impersonating a company, notify the company of the scam.
- If they have your information, you might risk having your identity stolen.
- File a complaint to the Federal Trade Commission: ReportFraud.ftc.gov
- Retain proof and documentation of the scam in case you need it in the future.
